Welsh National Parks, England
The appeal of Wales lies in its countryside, not its cities and towns. Much of the countryside has been preserved in national parks throughout the region. There are numerous hiking trails both in the National Parks and countryside, which offer the best way to experience Wales.
Cardiff is the capital of Wales. The Cardiff Castle is worth seeing as the interior was restored by the Victorians and comes across as more of a movie set then a true representation of a medieval castle. The National Museum of Wales, displays the history of Wales as well as holding the finest collection of impressionist art in Britain. The Welsh Folk Museum is has open-air attractions with re-construction buildings and craft demonstrations.
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is located on the south-western coast of Wales. It is a narrow coastline indented with bays and cliffs. It is the only coastline in England, which is a national park with a path following the coastline and headlands. The towns of St. David and Fishguard are particularly noteworthy for their beauty.
Brecon Beacons National Park located in south Wales this park encompasses 522 sq miles, of high hills and valleys. There are three mountain ridges in the park Brecon Beacons in the center and the Black Mountains on either side of the Beacons with forests, caves and canals throughout the park which the hiker can enjoy.
Snowdonia National Park in the north of Wales the park holds some of the highest peaks in Britain, which you can either hike, climb or take a train to the tops of. The north is where one would find Welsh spoken most often. The Lleyn Peninsula is less crowded then the other regions of the north and there are some superb pathways that one can hike.
Offa’s Dyke Path takes its name from the 8th century earth works built by King Offa to define the boarder between Wales and England and offers a wide variety of sites and experiences for the hiker. The path is more of an archeological then geographical route but it is one of the better long distance walkways in England.
